The Austin Company has provided design services on several projects for this client, including port facilities, distribution, corporate headquarters, computer centers, and manufacturing facilities. Toyota elected to make an acquired Long Beach facility the source of all truck beds for the U.S. market.
Austin was engaged to perform services for this major assembly plant expansion. When completed, the expansion had increased production space by nearly fifty percent.
Automation and efficiency of the assembly process were increased, in part by the installation of the first Japanese in floor conveyor system of its type in the U.S.
Painting and finishing operations were upgraded as well in the $25,000,000 program that total Toyota investment in the facility to $50,000,000.
Through state-of-the-art handling and electrodeposition painting systems, Toyota is able to achieve greatly improved efficiency on the assembly lines. The in-floor conveyor system is the first of its kind in the United States.
